Church Pension Group | Retiree Health Benefits

Retiree Health Benefits Summary

Group Medicare Advantage (GMA) Plans

Although Medicare Part A and Part B provide coverage for medically necessary health services, retirees (former employees who are 65 and older) may wish to enhance that insurance with a UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage (GMA) plan via the Medical Trust.

These plans help pay many out-of-pocket expenses, such as copayments, coinsurances, deductibles, and some services not covered under Medicare. They also include prescription drug coverage.

Members may see any Medicare provider (in and out of network) at the same cost share, as long as they accept the plan and have not opted out of or been excluded or precluded from Medicare.

Eligible retirees and their eligible dependents may also purchase dental coverage via the Medical Trust.

All plans include several additional benefits at no added cost to members.

Post-Retirement Health Subsidy

The Church Pension Fund’s post-retirement health subsidy may be used to cover or offset all or a portion of the cost of the GMA Premium (PPO) plan option, the GMA Comprehensive (PPO) plan option and/or dental coverage for eligible retired clergy and their eligible spouses.

Retirees Under Age 65

Members who retire before age 65 and qualify under the Medical Trust’s eligibility rules can continue their healthcare coverage at their own expense until they turn 65 and become eligible for Medicare. If their former employer participates with the Medical Trust, they have access to the health and dental plans offered by that employer at the same group rates.
